Jamie Lee Curtis showed support for her trans daughter Ruby during a recent interview on MSNBC.

Over the last few years, the Halloween Ends star has fiercely advocated for her daughter, who came out in 2020.

From officiating Ruby’s wedding to calling out bigot politicians peddling anti-trans legislation, Curtis has used her platform to support her daughter and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole.

In a recent interview on Morning Joe, the Everything Everywhere All at Once star gave further insight into her relationship with Ruby and the importance of parenting with love.

“This life is about love. Being a parent is about love, and I love Ruby, love her,” Curtis explained.

“People have said, ‘You’re so great to accept her love.’ What are you talking about? This is my daughter, this human being has come to me and said, ‘This is who I am.’ And my job is to say, ‘Welcome home.’

“I will fight and defend her right to exist to anyone who claims that she doesn’t.”

Elsewhere in her interview, Curtis admitted that she still has much to learn about trans and gender topics.

“I’m trying to learn the most important thing is that I don’t know everything. And I, I wake up every day sober, saying, I don’t know everything,” she explained.

“There are a lot of things I don’t know about and there’s a lot of this that I need to learn.

“And I have gone to teachers, I’ve gone to people and said, ‘Please educate me, help me learn what the issue is, why the issue is, why that’s so important and what the other opinion is,’ so that I can hear both sides.”

She went on to reference her recent comments about genderless categories at award shows, which resulted in some backlash from social media users.

“But I get it wrong. I said something wrong with the Academy Awards. The first question was something about gender equity within de-gendering things, and just, I messed it up,” she said.

“And I got called out by somebody on Twitter or something saying she doesn’t know what she’s talking about. And she was right. I didn’t. Because… that wasn’t the point. I misunderstood the point.”

Curtis’ recent Morning Joe interview isn’t the first time she’s opened up about her daughter Ruby and fighting back against anti-trans bigots.

In a 2022 interview with the Spanish news outlet Cadena SER Radio, the Freaky Friday star expressed the importance of using your voice to fight back against anti-trans legislation and politicians.

“I have a trans daughter. There are threats against her life just [for] her existence as a human being. There are people that want to annihilate her and people like her,” she explained.

“So Jamie Lee Curtis is scared, and you should be too. And Jamie Lee Curtis has a voice, and she’s trying to use it. And you should too.”
