A “stoner girl comedy” is in the works from Kristen Stewart.
Stewart revealed that she and her fiancée Dylan Meyer are currently writing a “stoner girl comedy”, which she described as “really fucking stupid”.
“I think you’ll like it. But the reason I even thought of this is because our producer is our best friend. We’re starting a company,” she said.
“I’ve worked with so many people that I didn’t know and that I didn’t like for so long. It was definitely valuable, but also, fuck that.”
Meyer, a screenwriter, is known for co-writing Netflix’s 2021 dramedy Moxie alongside Amy Poehler.
Stewart didn’t disclose whether she would star in the film, although she has previously expressed her desire to continue directing.
Last year, it was announced that the Oscar-nominated actor will make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir The Chronology of Water, starring Imogen Poots.
The star said of the material: “Lidia’s memoir honors corporeal experience, radically. To make that experience physical feels vital to me and what this impulse means… is that it absolutely must be a film.”
“This project has been cooking for five years with the help of Scott Free, whom I could not be more privileged to have as partners and friends. Imogen Poots will carry this movie and the staggering weight of Lidia’s life.
“She can hold it. I am beyond lucky to have her.”
As for acting, Stewart was recently confirmed to star alongside Maya Erskine, Michael Cera and Michael Angarano in the upcoming “road trip comedy” Sacramento.
Other upcoming projects include a biopic on bisexual writer, philosopher and political activist Susan Sontag and a reality show with LGBTQ+ ghost hunters.
