Christine and The Queens, also known as Redcar, has joined a host of talent reading CBeebies Bedtime Stories over the Christmas holidays.

The format has seen a number of LGBTQ+ icons and allies, such as Elton John, Will Young, Dolly Parton and Harry Styles, read an array of bedtime stories from the CBeebies studio.

In a new twist, Redcar will read the children’s book, The Moon Keeper, on the stage of the Royal Festival Hall, sitting in a suspended crescent moon.

Broadcast on New Year’s Day, the story follows a polar bear who has a new job as a moon keeper.

Written and illustrated by Zosienka, the book is about friendship, the phases of the moon and how it’s okay that, in life, things come and go.

Christine and The Queens, who is genderqueer and uses he/him pronouns, will become the first trans celebrity to take part in CBeebies’ Bedtime Stories.

Actor Richard E. Grant, actress Kate Winslet and boxer Anthony Joshua are among the names joining him across the holiday reading season.
