Phoebe Bridgers to star in new A24 horror film I Saw the TV Glow

Phoebe Bridgers has landed her first film role in A24’s upcoming horror release I Saw the TV Glow.

Over the last few years, the Motion Sickness singer has made massive waves within the music sphere for her vulnerable and heartbreaking records.

While Bridgers’ star continues to rise, it looks like the young artist will be expanding her talents to the expansive film world.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Moon Song artist is set to star in I Saw the TV Glow as a member of Haley Dahl’s avant-rock act Sloppy Jane.

Justice Smith, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Helena Howard, Snail Mail’s Lindsey Jordan, Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst and Danielle Deadwyler have also been announced as part of the cast.

According to the logline, the horror movie is set to follow two teenagers (Smith and Lundy-Paine) who bond over their shared love for a scary television show.

However, their lives take a terrifying turn when unexplainable events occur after the show’s abrupt cancellation.

Written and directed by non-binary director Jane Schoenbrun, the movie has reportedly already wrapped filming and is currently in post-production – with A24 and Emma Stone’s production company Fruit Tree tapped to produce.

Shortly after the news made headlines, Schoenbrun took to Twitter to express their excitement over the star-studded film.

“Big news!! Behold the cast of I SAW THE TV GLOW, which, if I might humbly brag, is the coolest, wildest (and queerest) cast anyone has assembled in a minute,” they wrote. “I cannot wait for everyone to see the incredible work we all made together!!”

I Saw the TV Glow isn’t the first LGBTQ+ inclusive horror film helmed by the non-binary director.

Back in April, their movie We’re All Going to the World’s Fair was released in theatres after receiving rave reviews at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.

Described as “narratively challenging and visually haunting”, the film follows a group of teens and their sinister encounter with an online role-playing horror game.

We can’t wait to see Phoebe Bridgers make her film debut in I Saw the TV Glow.
