Plane Jane has addressed the elephant in the room regarding celebrity guest judges and Untucked.

On this week’s episode of Drag Race season 16, the eight remaining queens – Dawn, Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige, Morphine Love Dion, Nymphia Wind, Jane, Q, Sapphira Cristál, and Plasma – were tasked with another design challenge.

However, instead of creating lewks for a grand ball or a sickening doll, the contestants were asked to design and put together a “neo-goth” look from scratch.

“Think Morticia meets Mugler. Beetlejuice meets Balenciaga. Or Elvira meets Saint Laurent,” RuPaul explained.

Like the previous design challenges, not every queen was excited to hit the sketchbooks and sewing machines, like Mhi’ya and Plasma, who struggled during the creative process.

“This is crazy! Another design challenge? Look, my jewellery falling off because I’m aggravated,” the Miami-based queen said in a confessional.

After strutting down the runway in their gag-worthy and goth-inspired ensembles, the queens were critiqued by Mama Ru and the judge’s panel – resulting in Q, Nymphia, Sapphira and Dawn receiving praise for their designs.

The ladies then headed backstage for Untucked, where things got a little tense while discussing the aforementioned reviews.

However, the queens’ shady yet constructive kiki was interrupted by the episode’s guest judge, Kaia Gerber, who shared some inspirational advice.

While the Bottoms star and the contestants shared a sweet moment, fans took to social media to express their frustration with the seemingly new tradition of celebrity guests interrupting Untucked.

One viewer on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “How can we prevent guest judges from joining them backstage in Untucked? #DragRace.”

Another fan tweeted: “Can these guest judges stop interrupting the girls in Untucked??? Every time it gets heated, here comes the judge and the whole mood shifts. WE DONT CARE LET THE GORLS FIGHT.”

Season 16 queen Jane echoed similar sentiments, before naming the one celebrity that has privileges to interrupt Untucked.

“I’m so so sorry…….. if you’re not fvucking [Ariana] Grande, stop interrupting our Untucked. Let the girls EAT,” the Boston-based talent wrote.

While Untucked‘s new format has received a lukewarm response, many viewers of this week’s episode praised Kaia for her guest judge performance.

“Okay but why is Kaia Gerber my new favorite guest judge she was spitting facts nonstop,” one fan posted.

Another viewer added: “LOVE how opinionated Kaia Gerber is and is willing to push back against Michelle.”

On next week’s episode of Drag Race season 16, the queens will be tasked with making their voices heard by crafting a performance for a new drag anthem ‘Power.’

Famed choreographer Jamal Sims is set to sit on the panel, with alternating judge TS Madison making a return.

Drag Race season 16 is available to stream on WOW Presents Plus and MTV.
