Lizzo’s new reality TV series, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, took home three of the six awards it was nominated for at this year’s Emmys.

Among its wins was the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Competition Program, which has been won by RuPaul’s Drag Race every year since 2018.

During her acceptance speech, the Juice singer said she was “very emotional” about the success of Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.

“The trophy is nice but my emotion is for these people who are on the stage with me,” she continued.

“The stories that they shared are not that unique that just don’t get the platform. Let’s tell more stories.

“When I was a little girl, all I wanted to see was me in the media. Someone fat like me, black like me, beautiful like me.

“If I could go back and little Lizzo something, I’d be like, you’re going to see that person, but bitch it’s going to have to be you. This is for my big girls.”

Watch Out for the Big Grrrls follows 13 women competing to be dancers for Lizzo.

As well as hosting the series, the singer-songwriter serves as an executive producer alongside Makiah Green, Kevin Beisler, Julie Pizzi, Farnaz Farjam, Myiea Coy, Kimberly Goodman and Glenda Cox.

Nneka Onuorah directs the series, which is produced by Amazon Studios, Bunim-Murray Productions and Lizzo’s Lizzo Bangers shingle.
