Neighbours editor revealed that a bedroom scene featuring fan-favourite gay couple Aaron and David was cut short in the UK broadcast.

Over the last years, Australia’s longest-running drama series has boasted several same-sex couples in the past.

However, one of the most popular LGBTQ+ couples to be featured on the beloved show is the relationship between Aaron Brennan and David Tanaka, aka Daaron.

Since 2016, the beloved characters have won over the show’s LGBTQ+ viewers with their heartfelt storylines and queer visibility.

The duo also gained notoriety when they became the first gay couple to get married in the show’s extensive history.

In the series’ 20 July episode, David and Aaron were finally featured in bed with each other for the first time.

In the brief romantic scene, the married couple was shown canoodling as they discussed their future.

Shortly after the episode aired, fans of the series took to social media and praised the show for including the heartwarming moment.

One fan wrote: “It happened! A #daaron bed scene! It was as beautiful (and HOT!) and sweet and lovely as I always wished for! Thank you to whomever made it happen!”

Another user tweeted: “From all us #Daaron fans who have waited all these years for it, thank you.”

Neighbours writer Paul Gartside also expressed his excitement over the scene.

“It’s impossible to pick a favourite scene I’ve ever written for #Neighbours but this is definitely right near the top of the list,” he said via Twitter.

While viewers have expressed their happiness over the scene, Neighbours editor Shane Isheev revealed that the now iconic moment was “cut short.”

“I can confirm this was for you and the many others who requested… I can also confirm the scene was cut short in the UK,” he tweeted on 20 July.

“Here’s hoping it’s shown in full in Australia because the version I saw was pretty raunchy.”

You can watch David and Aaron in the final season of Neighbours on weekdays via Channel 5.
