The BBC has released another jampacked trailer for Doctor Who’s 60th-anniversary specials, featuring Heartstopper’s Yasmin Finney.

Back in May 2022, it was revealed that Finney would be joining the Doctor Who universe as a new Rose.

“This show has a place in so many people’s hearts, so to be seen as a trans actress by the legend himself, Russell [T Davies], has not only made my year, it’s made my life,” she said in a statement following her casting.

It’s A Sin creator and Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies echoed similar sentiments in an additional statement at the time.

“Life on Doctor Who gets brighter and wilder – how can there be another Rose? You’ll find out in 2023, but it’s an absolute joy to welcome Yasmin to the Doctor Who set,” he teased.

“We all fell in love with her in Heartstopper, one of those shows which changes the world – and now Yasmin can change the Whoniverse.”

Over the last few months, Davies and the BBC have slowly released new information regarding the show’s 60th anniversary – which is set to see David Tennant and Catherine Tate return as the 14th Doctor and Donna, respectively.

On 13 May, fans were treated to another exciting trailer for the upcoming three episodes, which featured new footage of Finney as Rose.

At the start of the preview, Donna asks: “Why did this face come back? To say goodbye?”

The teaser then transitions to a ship engulfed in flames as it flies across the sky.

“I don’t think that’s a plane. It’s a spaceship in trouble,” Tennant’s 14th Doctor explains to Finney’s character.

As the trailer progresses, the Doctor, Donna, and Rose are shown encountering a new batch of terrifying villains, including Neil Patrick Harris’s mysterious new character.

“He’s here, driving you mad. Laughing at the human race,” the Time-Lord exclaims in what looks like a TV control room.

Alongside the new footage, the teaser also revealed that the three 60th anniversary specials would be titled The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder, and The Giggle.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Davies gave further insight into what fans can expect from the new specials.

“The titles are just the beginning of the Doctor’s biggest adventure yet. Autumn is coming, with three hours of danger, Donna, and disaster about to be unleashed,” he revealed.

The dazzling new trailer comes a few weeks after the BBC announced that Jonathan Groff would be joining Ncuti Gatwa for the show’s 14th season – which is set to air after the 60th-anniversary specials.

“I am so thrilled to jump into the extraordinary mind of Russell T Davies and watch the incredible Ncuti Gatwa soar in this iconic role!” the Looking star said in a statement.

In addition to Groff, Drag Race superstar Jinkx Monsoon has also been confirmed for the new season as “the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet”.
