The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dropped a new BTS video of the spin-off for character Agatha Harkness in Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.

The series will “see Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in,” the official synopsis reveals..

“She can’t wait to go back to her old murderous ways only to find that she is powerless. The only way forward for her is to embark on a perilous quest to get her powers back with the help of an unlikely friend or two.”

In the newly released clip, Hahn explains how alongside the production team: “We knew we had something special on our hands, but I think we were all flabbergasted by the reception.

“People were hungry for something that felt nostalgic and something that everybody could sit around and watch and wait for on Friday nights.”

Jac Schaeffer, head writer and executive producer, recalled how she had been in the developmental stages of potential pitches; however everything “included a storyline about Agatha.

“I remember Kevin [Feige] saying to me, ‘We really should think about an actual Agatha show,’ and I was like, ‘Where do I sign for that job?’”

Heartstopper alumni Joe Locke joins the spooky cast. He can be seen, in the new clip, on set walking alongside Kathryn Hahn in what appears to be an ominous wood scene.

In a recent interview with Hunger magazine he revealed that: “It’s a very cool part. I resonated a lot with it and I loved WandaVision.

“Agatha is a very special and different Marvel project. I’m very proud of it, and I think it’s going to be really f***ing good. I think it’s really important and amazing that Marvel isn’t shying away from telling stories about people that don’t necessarily fit the superhero norm.”

Although not confirmed by Marvel, there has been great speculation swirling around the fandom that Locke has been cast as Wiccan, the gay superhero and son of Scarlet Witch and Vision.

In addition to Locke and Hahn, the ensemble cast includes Aubrey Plaza, Emma Caulfield, Debra Jo Rupp, Patti LuPone, David Payton, Asif Ali, Amos Glick, Kate Forbes, Brian Brightman, Ali Ahn, Maria Dizzia, Sasheer Zamata, Miles Gutierrez-Riley and Okwui Okpokwasili.
