Pop star Troye Sivan has revealed the one artist he wants to collaborate with on a remix for ‘Rush’.

On 13 July, the ‘Bloom’ singer officially ushered in his new music era by releasing the highly anticipated lead single and its dance heavy music video.

At the time of its release, Troye described ‘Rush’ as “the feeling of kissing a sweaty stranger on a dancefloor, a two-hour date that turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer”.

“Party after party, after party, after party. All of my experiences from a chapter where I feel confident, free and liberated. Independent, yet somehow the most connected to the music and community around me,” he explained.

With the track continuing to make waves in the music sphere, Sivan recently sat down with Apple Music host Travis Mills to discuss the track and a potential remix.

When asked if there was a particular artist he would want to collaborate with on a ‘Rush’ remix, the ‘Dance To This’ singer singled out pop icon Janet Jackson.

“I just think, she to me is like, she’s sort of the ultimate. She’s so inspiring to me, like endlessly inspiring to me,” he said.

“I went and saw her concert at the Hollywood Bowl. This was a couple of years ago now, and I really think that set me on my path forward for this album in general.”

Towards the end of his statement, Sivan praised Jackson for pushing boundaries and creating her own lane in music.

“Janet, to me, I think the reason why she’s so inspiring is because the music is just like untouchable,” he explained.

“She is so so good and was, you know, is constantly pushing boundaries and trying things, and it’s like, you know, there’s some really experimental moments in her catalogue, and she’s just the coolest to me.”

‘Rush’ is set to be featured on Sivan’s highly anticipated third studio album, Something to Give Each Other.

Due for release on 13 October, the record will feature contributions from Oscar Görres, Ian Kirkpatrick, Leland and Styalz Fuego.

“This album is my something to give you – a kiss on a dancefloor, a date turned into a weekend, a crush, a winter, a summer. Party after party, after party, after party. Heartbreak, freedom. Community, sisterhood, friendship. All that,” Sivan wrote on Instagram.

Here’s hoping that Sivan and Jackson will collaborate on a ‘Rush’ remix.
