Days before the 53rd anniversary of the Stonewall uprising on 28 June, hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets of New York City on Sunday (26 June) for the annual Pride parade.

Activism groups marched the parade route through Manhattan as crowds adorning rainbow, trans, and bi flags cheered in support of LGBTQ+ equality.

Following the overturning of Roe v. Wade by the US Supreme Court on Friday (24 June), many of the people marching the parade route protested the decision to make abortion illegal in States who wish to do so.

Planned Parenthood were one of the groups leading the parade chanting “My body, my choice!”

The parade rounded off a week of Pride programming, including concert series Pride Island featuring performances by Kim Petras, RAYE, and Lil Kim.

On Friday (25 June), speakers took to the mic at The Rally in Battery Park calling for greater protections for LGBTQ+ people globally.

GAY TIMES was also a promotional partner for Teaze; a Pride party for queer people of colour which took place at legendary gay bar 3 Dollar Bill in East Williamsburg. Thousands of young LGBTQ+ people were in attendance for an inclusive and celebratory day.

GAY TIMES travelled directly from London’s Heathrow to New York City with United Airlines. To plan your own trip, check out their best fares here.
