Becky Hill, Ella Henderson, Tia Kofi and more will play this year’s Birmingham Pride.

On 2 September, the social media accounts for the event confirmed a plethora of performers including Melanie C, Regard, Sabrina Washington, Dréya Mac, Hannah Diamond, Ryan Lanji & Hungama, Lisa Mafia and Taahliah.

Last year, it was announced that Steps will headline the main stage.

The pop collective debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart earlier this month with their Platinum Collection, becoming the first British mixed-gender group to land a chart-topper in four consecutive decades.

To mark the 25th anniversary of Birmingham Pride, the theme for this year’s celebrations will be “Pride and Protest”.

“Our aim is to play a leading role in building a community where all people are free to live without fear or prejudice. We strive for equality for all as part of an evolving global pride movement,” organisers wrote via their official website.

“Our year round projects and partnerships are focussed on improving the lives of, and empowering the LGBTQ+ community in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands. We are committed to challenging injustices, inequality and discrimination for all of our community.”

Birmingham Pride will be supported by HSBC UK.

In a statement, CEO Ian Stuart said the bank are “incredibly proud to be a long-standing supporter” of Pride, “value difference and are determined” to use their position in society “to support diversity and inclusion in all forms.”

“Last year we marched in our living rooms, this summer we were back out on the streets, and now we look forward to coming together once again in celebration and solidarity with Birmingham’s LGBTQ+ community in 2022,” he added.

Birmingham Pride will take place on 24 and 25 September 2022.
