A new photo from Pedro Pascal’s new movie Freaky Tales has arrived.

Back in 2022, Deadline revealed that Captain Marvel directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden were creating a new film starring the beloved talent.

At the time, details surrounding the plot were kept under wraps. However, the publication did confirm that the film would be inspired by Fleck’s experience growing up in Oakland, California.

Since that fateful day, there has been no additional news regarding Freaky Tales… until now.

On 8 December, the Sundance Film Festival announced that the project would be making its world premiere at the upcoming event, which is set to take place from 18 January to 28 January.

Alongside its festival inclusion, the non-profit organisation revealed a first-look photo from the film featuring Pascal.

In the snapshot, the Game of Thrones star is shown burning a piece of paper with a menacing look on his face.

Lastly, Sundance provided a new synopsis for the film, which gives further insight into its dynamic and intersectional plot.

“In 1987 Oakland, a mysterious force guides The Town’s underdogs in four interconnected tales: Teen punks defend their turf against Nazi skinheads, a rap duo battles for hip-hop immortality, a weary henchman gets a shot at redemption, and an NBA All-Star settles the score. Basically, another day in the Bay,” the synopsis reads.

Additional cast members for Freaky Tales include Ben Mendelsohn (Rouge One: A Star Wars Story), Jay Ellis (Insecure) Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), Dominique Thorne (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Keir Gilchrist (It Follows), Ji-young Yoo( Expats) singer-songwriter Normani and the late Angus Cloud (Euphoria).

Aside from his mysterious role in the aforementioned film, Pascal is set to be booked and busy over the next few months, with him filming Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 and the highly anticipated second season of HBO’s The Last of Us in 2024.

The Strange Way of Life star is also rumoured to play Reed Richards, aka Mr Fantastic, in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four film.

As of this writing, a general release date for Freaky Tales has yet to be announced.
