Mama Ru has the internet in a spin after potentially teasing her run for presidency, an announcement that has left fans “genuinely gagged and ready to vote.”

In a new viral clip that RuPaul posted across his social accounts, the drag legend can be seen standing dressed in formal red, white and blue attire in front of the American flag.

Looking straight down the camera lens, he says: “Hi, I’m RuPaul and I have an announcement of an announcement for the American people. Subscribe and be the first to know what it is.”

The video is accompanied by the caption: “The time has come. Visit rupaul2024.com and be the first to know. Link in bio.”

The link leads to a website holding page with a scrolling banner that aptly reads “America Needs A Queen”, plus the details to subscribe.

Fans were keen to speculate in the comments what the announcement could possibly be. Picking up on the presidential-coded themes, most were left questioning: is RuPaul about to announce a run for presidency?

One fan commented: “Please run for president. I’m immediately voting for you.”

Another added: “This was not on my 2024 bingo card, but I am so here for it.”

American model Kristen McMenamy, who guest starred on the fifth season of Drag Race UK last year, expressed her support for a RuPaul administration as she wrote: “Be President PLEASE!”

Tia Kofi, Drag Race UK vs The World star, pledged her support for Ru’s candidacy and shared that a new UK political party could be in the works: “If RuPaul is running for President, ima have to start The Drag Party in the UK and run for Prime Minister for real.”

It is currently unclear when the final announcement will be made, however if it is a run for presidency we can’t wait to hear the Ru-festo and the plans for America’s First Drag President.
