You better keep your engines running! Drag Race All Stars 9 is right around the corner.

On 19 April, hours before crowning the winner of Drag Race season 16, Mama Ru and company surprised fans by revealing the premiere date for the highly anticipated season.

In a short trailer, which seemingly teases a superhero theme, the ‘Covergirl’ icon announced that All Stars 9 would be making its grand debut on 17 May.

“The time has come for drag queens to save the world,” Ru can be heard saying before an epic photo of her in a dazzling teal superhero costume splashes on the screen.

Like seasons seven and eight of All Stars, the new batch of episodes will stream weekly on Paramount Plus in the US.

Viewers in the UK, Canada, Australia, and countries outside of the US will be able to tune in on WOW Presents Plus.

Shortly after the premiere date was revealed, fans flocked to social media to express their excitement for the new season.

One fan on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “A month without drag race until the new AS9, what am I supposed to do with my life.”

Another user echoed similar sentiments, tweeting: “MAY? MAMA RU WORKING OVERTIME?”

A third fan added: “Superhero theme I’m GAGGGGGING omg? I’ve wanted them to redo this theme since All Stars 1.”

Fortunately, viewers won’t have to wait too long for the cast reveal.

On 17 April, Sherri Shepherd announced that the new batch of queens returning to battle it out for a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame will make their first appearance on her self-titled talk show, Sherri, on 9 May.

The actress and comedian made the announcement to coincide with the appearance of the stars of NBC sitcom Lopes Vs. Lopez, father-daughter duo George and Mayan Lopez.

Mayan, a Drag Race superfan, memorably guest-starred on the show’s 16th season. She gushed about her stint to Shepherd, describing drag queens as the “most incredible creatures and artists”, adding: “And I strive to hustle like a drag queen!”
