Pop star Troye Sivan has opened up about what he wants in a new partner.

In a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, the ‘Bloom’ singer answered a series of rapid-fire questions – ranging from his mom’s wholesome interaction with Vogue’s Anna Wintour and his close relationship with sister Sage.

However, things took an intimate turn when the publication asked about Sivan’s dating life, specifically, the longest he’s ever been in a relationship.

“The longest relationship I have been in was for 4 and half years. Jacob Bixenman was a significant moment in my life,” he explained.

“We ended in 2019. We are still friends and share custody of our dog. Nash.”

Sivan then opened up about what he’s looking for in a new partner – citing “a sense of humour” as their first quality.

“Sure, attraction is nice, but I get over that very quickly. There are a lot of beautiful people in the world, but finding someone who is a best friend and someone I can really laugh with – that is the single most important thing,” he added.

Towards the end of his interview, The Idol star revealed his dreams of starting a family one day with a long-term partner.

“I would love children one day. I’m less attracted to the idea of marriage, but I definitely want to end up in a long-term relationship,” he added.

Sivan’s recent interview comes off the heels of his latest single release, ‘Got Me Started’ – which has become an instant hit with fans.

The follow-up to his acclaimed comeback banger ‘Rush’, the track is another pulsating, club-ready anthem. The choreo-heavy video, created by the same team behind his viral ‘Rush’ visual, sees Sivan dance on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand, with a squad of dancers.

‘Got Me Started’ was also produced by Ian Kirkpatrick and samples the 2008 song ‘Shooting Stars’ by Australian duo Bag Raiders.

The aforementioned tracks are set to feature on his third studio album, Something to Give Each Other.

On 5 October, Sivan shared the complete tracklist alongside new album artwork – which sees him nude on a couch, wearing white socks, and having a sombre look on his face.

In an interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ, the ‘Angel Baby’ singer revealed how a hookup partially inspired the forthcoming album.

“We were lying in bed and he was like, ‘This is one of life’s greatest pleasures, connecting with people in this way,'” he explained.

“Obviously the hook-up is fun, but he’s like, ‘Even if I never see you again, we get to have this really special moment together.'”

Something to Give Each Other is set to drop on 13 October.
