TikTok stars Nicky Champa and Pierre Boo have called it quits.

In a statement to Out, Champa revealed the news and explained why they decided to end their relationship nearly a year after tying the knot.

“With social media, it’s a bit complicated. Our relationship became a brand. I want to say I have nothing but love and respect for this person. I spent my entire twenties with this person,” he told the news outlet.

“I grew up with this person. He’s a very special person and will always remain that way for me.”

Champa also added that he felt “trapped within an ideology” of the image he and Boo presented on social media over time.

“I think as you age, you kind of realize different things. Then on top of it, the social media aspect of it and people constantly comparing ourselves to each other and the pressure of maintaining this image. It almost became, I would tell people, like a Black Mirror episode,” he said.

“It was almost like I felt trapped within an ideology of what we’ve become. I can only speak for myself. I lost myself in this relationship.”

As for Boo, the French influencer confirmed their break up via his Instagram Stories on 9 July, writing: “We broke up. I’m so sorry everyone.”

Champa and Boo began dating in 2017 after meeting at a movie audition, per J-14

After moving in together, the former couple created joint Instagram and YouTube accounts, which helped ushered in their careers as content creators.

Over the last couple of years, the two influencers have expanded their fanbase and success to TikTok, with Champa curating 13.3 million followers and Boo having 13.7 million followers.

In August 2022, the former loverbirds took their relationship to the next level when they tied the knot in Las Vegas.

Regarding their future as social media influencers, Champa told Out that he and Boo would no longer be creating content together so they could focus on their individual goals.
