Say goodbye to Litchfield.

Netflix’s prison dramedy Orange is the New Black has (finally!) received a premiere date for its upcoming sixth season.

The streaming service released an ominous teaser for the acclaimed series in which lead character Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) bids farewell to Litchfield Penitentiary after the explosive events of season five. It also teases their arrival at “the Max”, the maximum security prison facility.

In the cliffhanger finale, the inmates were separated and loaded onto buses after CERT members ended the season-long riot, which was initiated by the prisoners because of Poussey Washington’s (Samira Wiley) death.

Season six will see the return of previous cast members Schilling, Laura Prepon, Natasha Lyonne, Uzo Aduba, Danielle Brooks, Jackie Cruz, Taryn Manning, Kate Mulgrew and Gay Times cover star Laverne Cox.

Throughout its run, Orange is the New Black has garnered universal acclaim from critics for its humanisation of prison inmates, and its depiction of race, sexuality and gender.

The series has received 16 Emmy Award nominations, including two wins for Abuda.
