Jameela Jamil responds to criticism over character in Marvel’s She-Hulk

Jameela Jamil laughed off fan reaction to a first look photo of her character Titania in Disney+’s upcoming She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series. 

In the photo, the actress can be seen in costume looking rather dishevelled with bold makeup and a vibrant ginger wig.

The actress soon faced backlash from fans who mocked the character’s hair and makeup. One user wrote: “It’s giving Halloween costume from Walmart.”

“This costume??? That wig????” another wrote.

Jamil also saw the humour in the photo, responding on Twitter, “Omg this photo.. Guys I accept every ounce of shade here,” before going on to clarify, “In defence of my excellent hair stylist, this is just my hair after a 14 hour stunt day in Atlanta heat.

“Just after being upside down. She did a *great* job on the show I promise. I dutifully accept the crowd attack.”

In a separate tweet, Jamil assured fans that the costume would make more sense once the series premieres. “It fits the character,” she tweeted.

Some fans even praised the actress’s good humour in her response to critics, “I can’t recall an MCU actor handling the insane part of this fanbase that goes nuts over a still image with a better combo of humour and understanding than thus here.”

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres 17 August on Disney+.

Starring Orphan Black alum Tatiana Maslany as the titular character, the series follows She-Hulk as she navigates a legal career whilst also being a six foot seven mega strong superhero.
