HBO Max has released the first official trailer and release date (sort of) for And Just Like That’s second season.

According to the streamer, the Sex and the City prequel will return in June. (That’s all we know for now.)

In the teaser, set to Jessie Ware’s disco anthem Pearls, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) tells the audience: “No matter what life hands you, you can always count on your closest friends to be there.”

She later adds: “And just like that, I realised some things are better left in the past. But maybe… not everything.”

Characters such as Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Charlotte (Kristen Davis), Che (Sara Ramírez), Seema (Sarita Choudhury), Franklyn (Ivan Hernandez), Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker) and Dr Nya (Karen Pittman) are also seen in the trailer, in addition to Aiden (John Corbett), Carrie’s former love interest.

The first season of And Just Like That… received polarized reviews from critics, particularly for the character of Che, a non-binary podcaster and comedian.

In an interview with Variety, Ramirez – who is best known for their role as Callie Torres on Grey’s Anatomy, one of the longest-running LGBTQ+ characters in TV history – said of the criticism:  “Other people’s opinions of a character — that’s not something I can allow into my process.

“I choose what I receive, right? That’s the beauty of being grown — I don’t have to receive everything!”

Over the course of season one, Che developed a romantic relationship with Miranda – which served as a jumping-off point for the latter’s sexual awakening.

While fans of the series have been critical of the character, creator Michael Patrick King told Variety that he wants to showcase a new side of Che in season two.

“One of my burning passions about Season 2 is Che,” he revealed. “I want to show the dimension of Che that people didn’t see, for whatever reason, because they were blinded, out of fear or terror. I want to show more of Che rather than less of Che. Like, really.”
