Kit Connor has been cast in a lead role for the upcoming A24 film Warfare.

According to Deadline, information regarding the Heartstopper star’s character and the film’s plot are being kept under wraps.

While details of Warfare are shrouded in secrecy, the news outlet revealed that director Alex Garland and Navy Seals veteran Ray Mendoza co-wrote the script. The duo are also set to co-direct the mysterious new film.

Garland and Mendoza previously collaborated on the upcoming dystopian action-drama Civil War, with the latter serving as the movie’s military supervisor.

Lastly, Connor will be joined by other emerging acting talents, including Charles Melton (May December), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs), Cosmo Jarvis (Shōgun), and Finn Bennett (True Detective: Night Country).

As of this writing, a release date has yet to be announced.

The next couple of years are looking to be very busy for Connor, who has an array of highly anticipated projects lined up – including The Wild RobotOne of Us and A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow

The Rocketman star will also reprise his role as Nick Nelson in the third season of Netflix’s hit coming-of-age series Heartstopper.

On 20 March, the streamer announced that the new batch of episodes would be released in October.

“This season, Charlie would like to tell Nick that he loves him. Nick also has something important to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges,” revealed on Twitter.

“As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn’t go to plan.”

To make the announcement even more exciting, Netflix shared a BTS video from the making of episode eight, in which Connor and Locke discuss their characters’ spicy storyline.

“It’s started to get a bit more steamy. The tension is high. It’s like, sexual tension, love, we’re all there,” the His Dark Materials star explained.

William Gao and Jenny Walser also appear in the clip to discuss Tao Xu and Tori Spring’s respective journeys in season three.

“Tao is beginning to figure out what he loves to do and what his hobbies are. He’s found a passion for something that he begins to really love. And he does it to bring joy to people and to cheer up the other characters in the show,’ the Wasia Project artist said.

Walser added: “This season, we get to see a little bit more of Tori and how what Charlie has been going through has affected her. And she also makes a new friend.”
