Kim Petras has received her first GRAMMY nomination for her collaboration with Sam Smith, Unholy, in the category of best pop duo or group performance.
The song was first teased by the stars on TikTok before its release on 22 September.
It quickly became a Billboard Hot 100 number one, making Kim the first openly trans woman to reach that top spot, and Sam Smith the first out non-binary person.
Kim has spoken about her hopes for more trans people to be recognised and respected in the music industry.
“I just really don’t want to be the last. There’s always been incredible and talented trans artists, and they have been paid dust,” she explained to Billboard.
“That same story just keeps repeating over and over for trans girls who have been making exceptional music and have been pushed under the rug while someone else takes credit from them.”
