Two-time Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon has extended her run as Matron ‘Mama’ Morton in Chicago on Broadway.

The star will appear in the role for just 14 more performances, from 16 to 26 March at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City.

Her time in Chicago has been met with acclaim from both critics and audiences alike, with all of Jinkx’s shows seeing standing-room only crowds.

Discussing her extended run, Jinkx said: “The kids are saying ‘she ate,’ so I figured, I might as well have seconds.

“In all seriousness, playing for standing room only crowds throughout my run as Mama has got my mind blown and my heart full. Audiences from all over the world have generously brought so much joy to this show.

“The Chicago cast has become my family, and I’ve made friends for life. I’m super excited for what the rest of the year holds, but first, I’m gonna keep feeling my oats on the Broadway stage.”

When she made her Chicago debut this January, Jinkx made history as the first drag queen to play Matron ‘Mama’ Morton on Broadway.

Last year, she became the first RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant to win not one but two seasons of the show after emerging victorious from the prestigious all-winners’ season, All Stars 7.

Jinkx recently announced her “biggest tour” to date, which will see her perform in 44 cities across the US and Canada.

She will appear alongside her “musical main squeeze” Major Scales and a “full rock band” as they perform music from the star’s lauded first two albums, The Ginger Snapped and The Inevitable Album, as well as new tracks from her upcoming three-part album The Virgo Odyssey.
