Cara Delevingne will join Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian in the new season of American Horror Story.

On 24 April, the model and actress’ involvement with the long-running horror anthology series was confirmed when she was spotted on-set in an all-black ensemble alongside Roberts.

The 12th season – which is tentatively subtitled Delicate – is reportedly based on Danielle Valetine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition.

The story follows Anna Alcott, an actress who longs for a family. After deciding to go through the IVF process to get pregnant, strange and unusual things begin to occur that threaten her dreams of becoming a mother.

“Crucial medicines are lost. Appointments get swapped without her knowledge,” according to the book’s synopsis.

“Cryptic warnings have her jumping at shadows. And despite everything she’s gone through to make this pregnancy a reality, not even her husband is willing to believe that someone is playing twisted games with her.

“Then her doctor tells her she’s had a miscarriage―except Anna’s convinced she’s still pregnant despite everything the grave-faced men around her claim… Vague warnings become direct threats as someone stalks her through the bleak ghost town of the snowy Hamptons.

“As her symptoms and sense of danger grow ever more horrifying, Anna can’t help but wonder what exactly she’s carrying inside of her…and why no one will listen when she says something is horribly, painfully wrong.”

As well as her modelling career, Delevingne is known for roles in films such as Paper Towns (2015), Suicide Squad (2016) and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017).

On television, she led Prime Video’s fantasy series Carnival Row (2019-2023) and recently starred in the second season of Only Murders in the Building (2022).

Delicate will mark the American Horror Story debut for both Delevingne and Kardashian.

Upon the latter’s announcement, series creator Ryan Murphy hailed the socialite as one of the “biggest and brightest television stars in the world” and that he’s “thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family”.

He added: “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role, especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”

Each episode of American Horror Story: Delicate will be written by Halley Feiffer, which marks a first for the series. She will also take over as showrunner from Murphy.
