Ariana Grande’s upcoming video for thank u, next will pay tribute to the classic rom-com, Legally Blonde.

The American performer posted a series of tweets in which she alludes to a potential storyline akin to Elle Woods, who was memorably played by Academy Award winner Reese Witherspoon.

“Whoever said orange was the new pink was seriously disturbed”, her first tweet read, which is a classic line from the film.

The tweets that followed were photos from the set. The first is a picture of a fashionable dog in a pool on a lilo, which is so Bruiser Woods (RIP).

The second, and the most exciting one so far, is Ariana with American actress Jennifer Coolidge, who played the fan-favourite character Paulette Bonafonté in the original and its follow-up: Red, White & Blonde.

Ariana also hinted that the video will feature elements from an another iconic teen comedy… Mean Girls.

In an earlier tweet, the 25-year-old singer posted several photos with two other friends, with the caption: “Meet the plastics.”

thank u, next became Ariana’s first American chart-topper last week, and her third UK number one single.

It broke several records upon release, including the record for the most plays in a single day by a female artist on Spotify.

The track also topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Finland, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Greece, and the top ten in Austria, Estonia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Slovakia, Sweden and Switzerland.

Her upcoming album of the same name is rumoured for release later this year.
