The first full-length trailer for American Horror Story: Delicate has ignited a passionate response online.

Based on Danielle Valentine’s novel Delicate Condition, the story follows Anna Victoria Alcott, an actress who is convinced that someone – or something – is trying to stop her pregnancy.

It has been described as a feminist take on Rosemary’s Baby (1968).

Delicate will star Emma Roberts as Anna, as well as fellow American Horror Story veterans Denis O’Hare, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman and Zachary Quinto.

New stars include Cara Delevingne (Carnival Row), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Pose), Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife), Annabelle Dexter-Jones (Succession) and Odessa A’zion (Hellraiser).

It will mark the acting debut of Kim Kardashian, who plays Anna’s publicist Siobhan Walsh.

In the trailer, Siobhan tells her client that she has a “peculiar penchant for turning dreams into nightmares”, before asking her if she wants an Oscar as much as she wants a baby. The answer: “yes”.

Check out the trailer, featuring eerie images of goats, voodoo slash witchcraft and… baby brains in a jar, below.

Oh and Kardashian sings ‘Rockabye Baby’ – also eerie.

Fans hailed the trailer as “insane” and “iconic“, while others described it as worthy of being on the Lifetime network.

Another opined that Delicate has “one of the best castings” in American Horror Story‘s history.

Delicate will be split into two parts due to the ongoing strikes within the film and television industry in the US.

American Horror Story is back on 20 September on FX in the US, with the show due to air on Disney+ in the UK.
