“I have the chance to show Australia how I have grown as an artist and performer.”

Courtney Act has announced her bid to compete for Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest.

The legendary queen – who won Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year – has released the massive dance-pop anthem, Fight For Love, which she will perform on SBS’ ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’ on Saturday 9 February 2019.

In a statement, Courtney said: “A sweet 16 years after Australian Idol, I have the chance to show Australia how I have grown as an artist and performer and I am so excited!

“To compete to represent Oz in Eurovision is second only to being on that stage in Tel Aviv and singing my lungs out for my country. Fight For Love is a dancefloor banger all about coming together and fighting for the things we believe in.

“I think it’s so important to think about the basic human rights of others and to use our collective voices, minds and bodies to lift those people up and bring about change.”

Fight For Love is now available on iTunes and streaming services. Listen below.

Last week, we caught with Courtney to discuss her “bloody gay” Christmas Extravaganza for Channel 4.

“The opening number starts off all, you’ll think, ‘This is cute,’ and then it pans out and you see these six foot candy canes,” she told us of her Christmas Extravaganza.

“We start off very traditional, like you’re just sitting there watching it with your family.

“It’s kind of like boiling a frog, you know that thing where you put a frog in boiling water and it doesn’t realise that it’s being boiled? Because it just goes up so gradually?”

She also revealed that she’s contemplated an appearance on Good Morning Britain to challenge Piers Morgan.

“I have been thinking about it,” she said.”Everyone thinks about how a situation would go in their own head.

“It’s like how you picture getting mugged, and you think you would turn into a superhero, but you’d actually just lay on the ground screaming, ‘Please! Not my face!’

“So in my head, I would give Piers a piece of my mind, but I’d be scared about the reality. If I can hold my own with Ann Widdecombe, I think there’s a good blueprint, even though Ann isn’t as goading or aggressive as Piers.”
