Ask any LGBTQ person and chances are they missed out on going to their school disco with the person they really fancied, through fear of discrimination.

Danish artist Theo X is here to turn those missed teen moments into a heart-warming new music video for his disco-tinged single You Don’t Wanna Dance.

“When I wrote You Don’t Wanna Dance it brought back feelings of hitting puberty and being attracted to the same sex, but I didn’t have the confidence at an early age to allow myself to fall in love with boys,” Theo explained.

“The song is an ode to young LGBTQ+ people everywhere. People should be confident enough to love and not be afraid of themselves.”

In the brilliant music video, a young boy builds up to ask his crush for a dance at the school disco, turning the traditional heteronormative teen love story on its head for a same-sex twist.

Theo X has released two singles so far as he continues to build his profile across Europe.

He’s performed on Danish primetime TV, and in front of the Danish royal family.
