Everything Everywhere All At Once swept the 2023 Oscars with seven monumental wins.

On 12 March, the highly-anticipated 95th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Hosted by comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, the event featured appearances from Jessica Chastain, Collin Farrell, Cate Blanchett, Florence Pugh and more.

Alongside the show’s star-studded roster, the evening featured an array of landmark wins, snubs and heartfelt performances.

One of the biggest winners of the evening was the cast and crew of Everything Everywhere All at Once (EEAAO).

Out of the film’s 11 nominations, the sci-fi dramedy took home seven awards, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan were awarded Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor for their performances as Deirdre Beaubeirdre and Waymond Wang, respectively.

“My journey started on a boat. I spent a year in a refugee camp, and somehow I ended up on Hollywood’s biggest stage,” Quan said during his tearful acceptance speech.

“They say stories like this only happen in movies. I can’t believe this is happening to me. This is the American dream.”

Curtis also delivered an emotional speech while accepting her first Academy Award.

“I know it looks like I am standing up here by myself, but I am not. I am hundreds of people,” she exclaimed. “My bae Michelle [Yeoh], Ke [Huy Quan], Stephanie [Hsu] – the entire group of artists who made this movie – we just won an Oscar.”

However, one of the night’s biggest winners was Michelle Yeoh, who took home the coveted award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Due to her landmark and much-deserved victory, the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star has become the first Asian woman to win the category since the Oscars’ inception.

“For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof that dreams dream big and dreams do come true,” Yeoh said in between tears.

“And ladies, don’t let anyone ever tell you you’re past your prime.”

Yeoh’s landmark Oscars win came a few weeks after she nabbed the Best Actress accolade at the SAG Awards and Golden Globes Awards.

Outside of EEAAO, Brendan Fraser topped off his film industry comeback by winning the Best Actor award for his performance in The Whale.

“I started in this business 30 years ago, things didn’t come easy to me, but there was a facility that I didn’t appreciate at the time, until it stopped,” he said in his speech.

“I just want to say thank you for this acknowledgement. It couldn’t be done without my cast. It’s been like I’ve been on a diving expedition, and the air on the line to the surface is being watched over by some people in my life, like my sons.”

In addition to the ceremony’s award section, pop icons Lady Gaga and Rihanna delivered riveting performances of their Oscar-nominated songs Hold My Hand and Lift Me Up, respectively.

Stephanie Hsu also performed EEAAO’s original song This Is A Life alongside David Byrne.

Lastly, Disney fans were treated to the first full trailer for the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid – which featured new footage of singer-songwriter Halle Bailey as Ariel.
