The first images for Prime Video’s upcoming teen rom-com How To Date Billy Walsh have been released.
The film, which is directed by Alex Sanjiv Pillai, is set to follow childhood best friends Amelia and Archie, whose lives change after the unexpected arrival of American transfer student Billy Walsh.
“Archie has always been there to fight Amelia’s battles, laugh at her jokes, whilst constantly striving for her love and affection. Archie has been in love with his best friend for as long as he can remember,” the official synopsis reads.
“Just when he builds up the courage to declare his feelings, Amelia falls head over heels for Billy Walsh, the new American transfer student.
“Heartbroken Archie goes to great lengths to try and keep Amelia and Billy away from each other, but ends up pushing them closer together and risks losing his best friend at the same time.”
Heartstopper’s Sebastian Croft is set to play Ariche, with Brigerton’s Charithra Chandran playing Amelia and Cobra Kai’s Tanner Buchanan portraying Billy.
Kunal Nayyar, Nick Frost, Guz Khan, Lucy Punch, and newcomer Daisy Jelley are also expected to appear in the Alexander J Farrell and Greer Ellison-penned comedy.
In two of the new images, Croft’s character is featured with chocolate cake splattered on his face and spaghetti pasta stuck in his hair.

Another first-look snapshot showcases Chandran’s character in the aftermath of an unspecified incident, which resulted in her make-up being smeared and her classmates sneering at her.
Lastly, the photo set also gives viewers a sneak peek at the tense love triangle between Archie, Amelia and Billy.
Taking to Instagram, Croft expressed his excitement over the new first-look images with a cheeky post.
“First look at How To Date Billy Walsh. (yes a large amount of this film is me being covered in different foods / generally thrown about,” he wrote.
Fortunately, rom-com enthusiasts won’t have to wait too long for the release of How To Date Billy Walsh.
In an additional Instagram post, Croft, Chandran, and Buchanan announced that the film is set to be released on Prime Video on 8 September.
“So, if a knockoff Hugh Grant stopping an annoyingly attractive American from stealing the love of his life sounds like your cup of tea then join us on the 8th of September on Prime Video,” the trio teased.
