Drag Race UK star Cara Melle has set the record straight on her absence from the season five finale.

Spoilers ahead.

For their last challenge of the season, the final three queens – Ginger Johnson, Michael Marouli and Tomara Thomas – were tasked with writing and recording an original verse for RuPaul’s song ‘Spolight: The Remix’.

In addition to flexing their lyrical and vocal talents, the queens were also told that they would be starring in a cat-burglar-inspired music video for the track.

After reflecting on their Drag Race UK journey with Mama Ru and Michelle Visage, the three finalists showcased their charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent for their final maxi-challenge.

Throughout the shoot, Ginger showcased her comedic chops while Tomara and Michael served drama and choreography. The video also featured the eliminated queens, except for Cara Melle, who was reported to be ill during episode nine.

After walking down the runway in their best ‘Grand Finale Eleganza; Dripping in Jewels,’ Tomara placed third while Ginger and Michael lip-synced to Erasure’s hit single ‘A Little Respect’ for the crown.

Ultimately, Ginger was crowned the winner of Drag Race UK season five.

While fans were excited over Ginger’s win, some viewers expressed concern over Cara’s absence, with many flocking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to search for answers.

One viewer wrote: “Where’s mother Cara Melle though?”

Another fan posted: “Why is Cara Melle not there? What’s the tea.”

A third viewer added: “#DragRaceUK Cara Melle could not be here because she is… SICKENING!”

After a day of silence, Cara took to her Instagram Story to shut down speculation and gag some of the viewers who have been sending hate her way.

“To all those homosapions out there thinking and commenting that I was lying about being sick for the RPDRUK5 Finale (and also creating rumors about elimination)… you are hilaaaariously cute,” she wrote.

“As if I need to lie, and baby I would never want to miss a TV opportunity willingly… I’m a fucking Leo bitch.”

While Cara was unable to attend the Drag Race UK season five finale, she did share her showstopping ‘Grand Finale Eleganza; Dripping in Jewels’ look on Instagram.

“The Finale look you all deserved,” she wrote alongside a carousel of photos featuring her in a dazzling form-fitted gold gown dripping with glitter and intricate gold beading.

Fortunately, the outfit didn’t go to waste, with Cara wearing the epic finale look to the London premiere of Beyoncé’s new concert documentary Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce.
