Marvel has finally revealed new details on its first gay Spider-Man, Web-Weaver.

Back in July, the popular comic book company announced that the LGBTQ+ web-slinger was headed to the pages of Edge of Spider-Verse #5.

“Web-Weaver, a not-so-mild mannered fashion designer at Van Dyne, gets spider-powers and shows us a very different kind of Spider-Slayer in a story by Steve Foxe and Kei Zama,” Marvel said in a press release.

While Marvel remained tight lip regarding the character’s backstory, they did share a sneak peek into his sickening Mugler and Alexander McQueen-inspired costume.

At the time, co-creator Steve Foxe took to Twitter to open up about the creative process for the LGBTQ+ inclusive character.

“Something I realized immediately when conceiving Web-Weaver is that he can’t – and shouldn’t – represent ALL gay men. No single character can,” he tweeted (per Them).

“His fearlessly femme identity is central to who he is, but it’s not the STORY.”

After months of silence, Marvel finally released a new preview of Web-Weaver in the upcoming Edge of Spider-Verse #5 issue.

In the sneak peek, the character – whose name is unknown – saves his classmate Peter Parker from being bit by a radioactive spider.

Because of his selfless act, he’s bitten instead and bestowed with the famous web-slinging abilities.

The preview also teases a turbulent relationship with his presumed parents and a scene that showcases him creating his new costume – which artist and co-creator Kris Anka designed.

In his latest newsletter, Foxe gave further insight into the character and described Web-Weaver’s debut appearance as an “action story.”

“Web-Weaver is *not* Peter Parker–he’s a brand-new hero in the classic Spider-hero archetype,” he wrote.

“And I promise you don’t need a degree in fashion to follow his exploits. His job at Van Dyne is akin to Pete’s at the Bugle. This is very much an action story (with some flirting), which is really my favorite kind.”

Shortly after the preview was released, Marvel fans took to Twitter and shared their excitement over Web-Weaver’s debut.

One fan tweeted: “Web-Weaver has one of the coolest suits ever IN MY OPINION, I just love his design.”

Another fan wrote: “I would watch an animated or even movie adaption of Web-Weaver cuz this b***h is boss.”
