Hunter Schafer has revealed that she was in a five month relationship with Spanish pop star Rosalía.

In a new interview with GQ, the Euphoria alum shared – with Rosalía’s permission – that they dated for “about five months in the fall and winter” of 2019.

Schafer confirmed that the pair are still friends, describing the star as “family no matter what”: “I have really beautiful friendships with people that I was once romantically involved with.”

“It’s been so much speculation for so long,” Schafer added. “Part of us just wants to get it over with, and then another part is like, ‘It’s none of anybody’s fucking business!’”

However, Schafer said their romance is “something I’m happy to share. And I think she feels that way too.”

Over the past year, Schafer has made her mark on the film industry with roles in the dystopian blockbuster The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and the horror film Cuckoo, the latter of which is scheduled to be released in August.

Filmed in 2022, Cuckoo marked the first time she was ever on a film set. Schafer reminisced of her filming experience: “I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to deliver the same kind of performance with completely new people in a new country, on a new set, and on a completely different format of filmmaking.

“There were these barriers that I felt like I had to break. It was like having the training wheels off.”

Schafer is also set to star in Kinds of Kindness, the next film from Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos, alongside Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn and Mamoudou Athie.

As for the third season of Euphoria, which is tentatively scheduled for release in 2015, Schafer has been confirmed to reprise her breakout role as Jules Vaughn.

Schafer was unable to comment on the forthcoming season, although she acknowledged the rumours that it will include a time jump. “I can confirm that I have also seen that rumor in the news,” she said.
