Bros star Billy Eichner has called out the US Supreme Court and Justice Clarence Thomas in a passionate speech.

On 24 June, the court delivered a devasting blow to human rights when it overturned the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade – which legalised abortion nationwide.

“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” the Supreme Court wrote in a document.

Alongside the harmful decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Justice Thomas also wrote that the Supreme Court should “reconsider” various landmark decisions such as the right to contraception, same-sex relationships and same-sex marriage.

“In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell,” said the conservative associate justice.

Over the last few months, human rights activists, politicians and celebrities have called out the court official for his heinous statement and anti-LGBTQ+ viewpoints.

During the 2022 MTV VMAs, Eichner condemned US Supreme Court and Thomas while promoting his new LGBTQ+ rom-com Bros.

“Some of you know me as Billy on the Street, but on Sep. 30 I have a movie coming out called Bros,” he told the crowd. “Bros is making history as the first gay rom-com ever made by a major studio and the first where every role is played by an openly LGBTQ+ actor.

“And I need you all there in theatres on Sept 30, because we need to show all the homophobes like Clarence Thomas and all the homophobes on the Supreme Court that we want gay love stories.

“And we support LGBTQ+ people. And we are not letting them drag us back into the last century because they are in the past, and Bros is the future. Are you with me, VMAs?”

This isn’t the first time that Eichner has spoken out against the US Supreme Court.

After the court announced that Roe v Wade was overturned, the Difficult People star took to Twitter and wrote: “Get your fictional hateful bible stories and your fake fictional religious bull shit out of our f***ing lives. f*** you.”
