Tempo by Hilton Times Square is set amongst the ever bustling and true centre of New York City Times Square. The hotel entrance is set slightly back from the square with an impressive entryway set under one of Times Square’s newest and brightest billboards. The elevators whisk you up to the lobby which overlooks Times Square high above it all.

The lobby is reminiscent of the newer design style hotels, with an easy grab and go section for snacks and beverages that you can whisk away. One feature that stood out to us was their signature hydration station offering alkaline filtered water in the lobby. As if that wasn’t enough to tickle your fancy, the lobby also features two catering outlets. The former, Highball, an elegant bar and restaurant and the latter, aptly named Grab & Go which serves healthy and high-quality bites throughout the day.

Signature food and drinks at Highball

The corner of the lobby has a seating area on a carved window, which overlooks the bright and bustling Times Square. Check in is a breeze with multiple check-in desks open and a special desk for Hilton Honors members. We were quickly checked in and given room keys up to our room which sat on the 30th floor higher above New York City.

Views are unsurprisingly to die for because room sizes are similar to other New York City centre hotels so although you won’t have a lot of room to spread out, the room design is very clever meaning that there’s ample storage and an impressive size bathroom. The rooms are designed with three zones:  a Get Ready Zone, a well-lit space perfect for preparing for the day or a night out, a spacious bathroom and a lullaby-like ‘sleep environment’.

One of our favourite features was the speakers set into the bathroom, meaning you could listen to your favourite GAY TIMES playlist whilst you shower and get ready for a night out on the town. Beds as you would expect are incredibly comfortable and the whole room has a nice mid century style design with multiple light sources which is always appreciated in more modern hotels.

Considering this is a newer property, there were a couple of snags in the room. We had to get our television fixed, but this was done so quickly and effortlessly we barely even noticed.

GT recommends Tempo by Hilton Times Square for Queer business people and short stay vacation travellers alike.
