Attention, Desperate Housewives fans! A revival of the show might finally be happening, according to one of the OG stars.

Jesse Metcalfe, the actor who played hot gardener John Rowland, said that he has been approached to reprise his iconic role.

“I can certainly see that happening and I’d be open to it,” he told The Sun.

“There’s definitely been discussions,” he further confirmed

This is not the first time that a return has been tantalisingly teased, as back in 2021 the official Desperate Housewives X (formerly Twitter) account entered the new year with a post that left fans wondering whether a 10 year anniversary special was in the works.

Alongside what was believed at the time to be a brand new promo shot was the caption, “*Desperately* waiting for 2022.”

Although endless anticipation grew around the reprisal, no new Desperate Housewives content ever arrived.

Metcalfe is not the only member of the show’s alumni to speak out about a potential reunion.

Eva Langoria, who played Gabrielle Solis, previously told Radio Times that she would be “the first to sign up” for a film or reboot.

“I mean, we ended the series with [Gabrielle] going off to start her own business. So I’d love to pick up and see like how she’s grown that business,” she explained.

“Is she, you know, Kris Jenner? Just fabulous and flying all over the world and managing all of these businesses.”

“I don’t know if we could do the show today”

The show ran for more than a decade from 2004 to 2012 across eight seasons and followed the lives of Gabrielle Solis, Susan Delfino (Teri Hatcher), Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) and Bree Van de Kamp (Marcia Cross) on Wisteria Lane.

Desperate Housewives was renowned for its complex storylines that featured scandals, affairs and everything in between.

“I don’t know if we could do the show today. I think we’d get cancelled,” Longoria told ET Online last year. “I mean, not cancelled on TV but like cancelled in culture because it was so groundbreaking and we said and did so many things that were shocking at the time. I don’t know where these ladies would be now in their life.”

Yet, by the end of eighth and final season, a time jump that spanned several decades saw Scavo become a CEO with her husband (Doug Savant) as the couple lived in New York with their family.

Van de Kamp ended up marrying her defence lawyer from her murder trial before moving to Louisvilles and becoming a member of state legislature.

The only plotline yet to be resolved was that of Delfino – is this the potential for a future spinoff? The answer remains unclear, however we have everything crossed that we might just be taking another stroll down Wisteria Lane sometime soon.
