Here comes the pride: Trail blazing weddings at sea

Celebrity Cruises offer same sex marriages

It is no secret the Celebrity Cruises publicly have shown support the efforts towards marriage equality around the world. Since their Trail same sex wedding onboard the Celebrity Equinox earlier this year they have continued to make it possible for the LGBTQ community to get married out at sea.

Since the transformative vote in Malta to recognise same-sex marriage in October 2017,  where a majority of the Celebrity fleet is registered they have been capable of hosting these weddings, opening doors to same-sex ceremonies in international waters all around the world – even in places you never thought it possible. Giving people the hope that they too can have a recognised ceremony.

The history-making couple (Francisco Vargas and Benjamin Gray) tied the knot on Celebrity Equinox. The grooms were joined by their immediate family for an intimate ceremony officiated by Captain Dimitrios Manetas, en route from Key West, Florida to Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico. They exchanged vows against the signature backdrop of the rose wall in Blu Restaurant, the location befitting the most memorable of moments.

“We are humbled to follow the trailblazers in the LGBTQ+ community who paved the way for us,” said Benjamin Gray.

The Celebrity Wedding Cruise programme offers onboard ceremonies and destination weddings for lovebirds. The Nautical Nuptials at Sea package includes a Captain-led ceremony, an event coordinator’s services, live music, one hour of photography, cake for two, a bottle of champagne, plus additional romantic turndown amenities post-ceremony, and more. Celebrity Cruises not only host LGBTQ weddings, but value the importance of diversity amongst all our guests and crew, check out the LGBTQ holiday services on board.
