Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers have opened up about fans shipping their characters together.
On 23 November, TV enthusiasts worldwide were finally treated to the eight-episode Netflix supernatural comedy.
The show, which is executive produced by Tim Burton, follows the titular character (Ortega) as she enrols in the mysterious Nevermore Academy – which was once attended by her parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez Adams (Luis Guzmán).
As she tries to navigate her new surroundings, the emotionless 16-year-old soon finds herself with psychic abilities and at the centre of a local murder investigation.
Shortly after its release, the show debuted at number one on the streamer with 341.2 million hours viewed. The series was also lauded by critics and fans for its creative storylines and the Scream 5 actor’s portrayal of Wednesday.
In addition to the aforementioned praises, viewers also shipped Ortega’s character with her optimistic werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair (Myers).
Due to the pairing’s extreme popularity, Wednesday enthusiasts on social media have dubbed their couple name “Wenclair.”
One fan wrote: “I thought ppl were jumping the gun for shipping Wednesday and Enid before the show even aired. But they were right, I ship them so much, so does the cast, like they better be endgame, I swear.”
Another fan tweeted: “Wenclair is the [best] ship EVER!!!!”

During the show’s recent red carpet premiere, Ortega and Myers shared their thoughts on the pairing while speaking to Pride.
“In a perfect world, we would have been a thing,” the X star told the news outlet.
When Myers was informed about Ortega’s statement in a separate interview, she replied: “Hey, I always say, ‘And they were roommates.'”
The red carpet premiere wasn’t the only time she’s used the iconic LGBTQ+ meme to describe the Wednesday and Enid ship.
In an interview with Elite Daily, Myers said: “Jenna and I would say that all the time to each other. And that’s all that needs to be said – I think that gets the message across.”
Alongside the shipping of Wenclair, fans have also crowned Wednesday as a queer icon – which Ortega seemingly embraced during her aforementioned interview with Pride.
“I think because she’s a badass. She’s cool, she’s got a nice sense of style, but she’s somebody who embraces her differences and isn’t out to please anybody,” she said.
“I feel like that’s really, really powerful thing to see. I feel like people want to see powerful women with powerful women.”
