The first trailer for the third season of The L Word: Generation Q has finally arrived.

Back in 2019, Showtime released the highly anticipated revival of the groundbreaking LGBTQ+  drama.

Taking place 10 years after the events of The L World series finale, the reboot follows Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) and Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey) as they navigate new career paths and the queer scene in LA.

The acclaimed series has also introduced viewers to a bevvy of new queer characters, including Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Sarah Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Maribel Suarez (Jillian Mercado), Tess Van De Berg (Jamie Clayton), Gigi Ghorbani (Sepideh Moafi) and Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas).

In October 2021, the second season finale came to a dramatic close, which featured Finley going to rehab, Shane solidifying her romance with Tess and Tina confronting Bette over her unresolved feelings.

Since the show was renewed for a third season in February, fans have been clamouring for more information regarding the new batch of episodes.

After months of silence, Showtime and The L Word showrunner Marja-Lewis Ryan released the first trailer for season three on 13 October.

At the start of the teaser, Tina asks Bette if she’s still in love with her – which leaves the latter stunned. Elsewhere in the trailer, Dani asks Gigi to move in with her, Finely returns from rehab, and Maribel and Michah contemplate having children.

“No matter who travels off into the sunset (or ties the knot…), this fierce group of friends and lovers are keeping it all in the family. Maybe this is their time to find ‘the one’ – or just the one for right now,” the official Showtime logline reads.

The new season is also set to feature an array of guest stars, including pop sensation Fletcher, Grammy-nominated artist Kehlani and comedian Margaret Cho.

Shortly after the trailer was released, fans took to social media to express their excitement over season three.

One fan wrote: “The L Word Generation Q Season Three trailer just single-handedly derailed the trajectory of my entire day.”

Another user tweeted:Ok the way I screamed for this trailer! My neighbours might think I’m being murdered. Fletcher is playing herself! So EPIC! THAT IS ALL CARRY ON!”

The third season of The L Word: Generation Q is set to premiere on 18 November.
