Just look to the washed walls and the natural fibered rug beneath your feet and you’ll soon realise you’ve become a victim of the latest interior trend that is so cool, it’s not even a trend, or so you thought.

Every so often something takes hold of the Instagram world and becomes a phenomenon, it becomes something that high street stores try to copy, bloggers boast about having and everyone just tries to barely understand – this one we’re calling ‘Soho House/Minimal Scandi but fashion’ (we’re working on the name ok).

Flick through your Insta feed of fashion-savvy folk, interior-individuals and those who just have so much money they’re forever travelling and calling it a career, and you’ll see it slowly creeping upon you like an extremely chic plague.

The vibe is this: Washed white walls, a natural fibre flooring layered with mat like rugs, finished with minimal furniture (some new, but most sourced from a painfully cool antique store at the end of the earth) and topped with original art, either made by you (sure) or gifted by an artist friend as a thank you for helping them become vegans and you’ll find yourself in the middle of a trend.

That’s not to say it’s not a trend we’re completely on board with, the real question is: how can we get it for ourselves?

The key to this trend is that it can start with just one piece (although white or off-white walls are probably a good starting point also), in our case, we’re obsessed with the Rattan Lounge Chair from French Connection home, crafted from cane and mango wood, it screams ‘I picked this up from when I hiking through the foothills of Mount Tibidabo’, but really you just picked it up on Oxford Street, which is basically the same thing.

Then slowly layer with various muted shades in varied textures as you come across signature pieces. This H&M rug looks as though it cost about 17x the price and this throw from Ferm Living at Amara  basically screams well travelled individual… ‘Oh where did you get that…Mexico, exotic’.
