“Connecticut’s grand diva” Robin Fierce is proud of her performance in her final episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

In Old Friends Gold, the queens of season 15 split into three teams to perform in old lady girl groups; Robin joined forces with Anetra, Jax and Loosey LaDuca for a veteran hip-hop collective called ‘Ol’ Dirty Bitches’.

Luxx Noir London, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Salina Estitties formed a country act with the ‘Banjo Bitches’, while Aura Mayari, Malaysia Babydoll Foxx, Sasha Colby and Spice channelled their inner Metallica as the ‘Rockin’ Old Gs’.

All three teams demolished the stage, delivering the cross-genre granny-fest we’ve always dreamed of, although it was Ol’ Dirty Bitches who received the worst critiques from the panel with both Robin and Jax landing in the bottom two.

To The Bangles’ 80s powerpop anthem In Your Room, the powerhouses performers served one of the most energetic and evenly-matched lip-sync battles of the season. Jax, however, earned another week in the competition and Robin was told to sashay away.

“Lip-syncing is what I do, it’s the actual job. I had a great time every time I did it,” Robin tells GAY TIMES. “Although, that last one was super nerve wracking, but we did it, I looked great. And above all Jax and I put on a great show.

“Of course, I wanted to stay longer and get a chance to apply the judges’ critiques, but this is what we sign up for. It was a little hard at first, but seeing my run on the show I’m still proud of what I did get to show.”

The self-described “essence of bad-bitchery” continues: “It’s definitely a goal of mine that has finally been achieved. It is such a gift to be cast on one of my favourite shows. It’s confirmation that I’m on the right track, and it’s giving me even more of an ability to share my drag with the world.”

During her final critiques, RuPaul and Michelle Visage questioned Robin on why she was “holding back” in the competition while special guest star Megan Stalter expressed, “I would love to see you push yourself all the way.”

In one of her most tender moments, Robin informed the panel that she doesn’t see herself as a “gambler”: “I know what works for me, I know what I like. I don’t even like trying new foods all the time, I stick to what I know”.

Reflecting on the notes from the judges, Robin is satisfied with her performance on the show as she was “authentic” the whole time: “And the world got to see a part of me. Everyone has many different parts and levels.

“I don’t think anyone can be shown 100%, but we come close.”

Following her elimination, Robin made herstory as the first-ever drag entertainer to be a guest speaker at Yale University. She held a Drag Queen Story Hour with readings of Anti-Racist Baby by Ibram X Fendi, And Tango Makes Three by Peter Parell and All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson.

The aforementioned books have recently faced pushback from right-wing lawmakers in the U.S., with some States even going as far to ban the books from school libraries.

Alongside a clip from the event, Robin tweeted: “Did I do a drag queen story hour at @Yale today… I did, indeed lol.”
