Lil Nas X used a video resembling an ad for the BET Awards show to announce that his new single, Late To Da Party, will be released very soon.

It comes after the singer-songwriter shared a snippet of the track which included the lyrics “Fuck BET” after he was snubbed in this year’s nominations.

“Thank you, BET awards. An outstanding zero nominations again. Black excellence,” he tweeted in response to the news at the time. “I just feel like black gay ppl have to fight to be seen in this world and even when we make it to the top mfs try to pretend we are invisible.”

Lil Nas X is yet to directly respond to BET’s statement on 7 June, which expressed “love” for the Industry baby hitmaker.

“No one from BET serves as a member of the Voting Academy,” the message added. “At BET, we are passionate advocates for the wonderful diversity that exists within our community. We are committed to using all of our platforms to provide visibility and inclusion for all of the many intersections of the Black community.”

Late To Da Party is a collaboration with YoungBoy Never Broke Again and is set to be released on 24 June, two days before the aforementioned awards show takes place.

Lil Nas X first rose to fame in 2019 following the success of his Old Town Road remix with Billy Ray Cyrus.

The song became the longest-running number one single in the US, spending 19 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and selling over 18 million units worldwide.

His highly anticipated debut album was released on 17 September and features collaborations from the likes of Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Elton John and Jack Harlow.

It debuted and peaked at number two in both the UK and US, with its singles also seeing a huge amount of commercial success all over the world.
