Gay Hell sounds like a mighty fine place to us.

YouTube star Elijah Daniel is no stranger to elaborate schemes and controversies – you may remember his critically-acclaimed, best-selling erotic novel starring Donald Trump – but his latest headline-grabbing act has an important message behind it.

Back in 2017, Elijah became Mayor of Hell, a quaint little town in Michigan, and proceeded to ban all straight people. Two years later, he’s bought the whole town and has renamed it Gay Hell in order to celebrate Pride Month and protest Trump’s government.

“Ahead of pride month Trump’s administration put a ban on embassy’s flying pride flags,” the 25-year-old wrote.

“So as of today, I am now the owner of Hell, Michigan. I bought the whole town. And my first act as owner, I have renamed my town to Gay Hell, MI. The only flags allowed to fly are pride.”

He later shared more photos and details of the town, which sounds lovely, adding: “Gay Hell has everything. A library, a place to lock your love in Gay Hell, and even a WEDDING CHAPEL TO GET GAY MARRIED IN HELL!”

“I have a young audience who is 16 to 24 who would not be involved in politics if it wasn’t in a funny or meme way,” Elijah told NBC News. “I’m just trying to have fun and get my audience politically active.”

He also confirmed that other flags won’t actually be banned in the town, which has an estimated population of 70 people, but wouldn’t disclose how much he spent on purchasing Gay Hell.

Vice President Mike Pence recently defended the Trump administration after they denied several embassies in countries including Brazil, Germany and Israel the right to fly a rainbow flag on their flag poles for Pride Month.

“We’re proud to be able to serve every American,” he said. “But when it comes to the American flag pole in American embassies in capitals around the world, having the one American flag fly I think is the right decision.”

Now… who’s up for a road trip to Gay Hell?
