Over the last few years, there has been a boom in local Pride events, which celebrate the vibrancy of LGBTQ+ people around the country.

Organised by the people living in local communities for those communities, they provide much needed visibility, outreach, and support for LGBTQ+ people not to mention opportunities for queer people to express their creativity.

With over 180 Pride events taking place all over the UK, theres a Pride for everyone.

And to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Pride movement, Channel 4 has partnered with GAY TIMES for the #ProudAllOver Road Trip, covering LGBTQ+ stories from across the UK.

The campaign will spotlight local Pride events, demonstrating how people outside of cities like Manchester, London and Brighton celebrate and uplift the LGBTQ+ community, even in the most rural locations.

A digital road trip of regional Prides, #ProudAllOver will take you on a journey around the UK, connecting people, places and lived experiences – and you might even discover the destination for your next Pride celebration.

The road trip will be supported by on-the-ground commentary from local LGBTQ+ content creators and creatives.

They’ll have the opportunity to educate people on the multitude of LGBTQ+ experiences in their respective communities, while also documenting and sharing unique and unheard stories that are so often overlooked.

It goes without saying that all Prides, large or small, deserve to be celebrated. We recognise and support the hard work from the organisers of larger and inner-city Prides.

However, #ProudAllOver is about giving space to events and organisations that are so often underrepresented and showing just how important they are to local queer communities.

Channel 4’s Proud All Over campaign is now in full swing, celebrating 50 years of Pride in the UK and supporting nearly 100 regional Pride events, from all four nations.

To help, the hilarious Tom Allen will be starring in a totally trippy TV trail as he travels the country spreading the message of Pride.

Keep your eyes peeled, too, for some fabulous IRL adverts supporting more than 40 Pride communities, from Exmouth to Shetland and from Folkestone to Llandovery.

For areas where there is no local Pride, people can still get involved using a specially designed Snapchat lens, which will reflect their location and can be augmented onto local buildings – really spreading Pride nationwide.

The Proud All Over campaign will also be live on Channel 4 and All 4 this July with star-studded LGBTQ+ themed programmes.

This will include new LGBTQ+ programming as well as Pride specials of Celebrity Gogglebox, Steph’s Packed Lunch and First Dates.

The weekend will culminate with Joe Lycett’s Big Pride Party live on Sunday 3rd July with special guest appearances from Steps, Self Esteem, Rosie Jones, Olly Alexander, and Tia Kofi and Tayce.
