Music superstar Bad Bunny has opened up about his first on-screen kiss with a man in a new interview.
Since 2017, the I Like It rapper has been making waves within the music sphere for his critically acclaimed albums and dynamic music videos.
In addition to his musical talent, the singer-songwriter has also garnered attention for his burgeoning acting career, which includes his upcoming role in the historical biopic Cassandro.
Set in the 1980s, the forthcoming film follows Saúl Armendáriz, aka Cassandro (Gael García Bernal) and his impactful life as the first openly gay wrestler in Mexico’s Lucha Libre.
According to Deadline, Bad Bunny is set to appear in the film as Bernal’s love interest.
In a recent interview with Time Magazine, the Un Verano Sin Ti artist opened up about his role and first on-screen kiss with a man.
“It was cabrón [badass]. My first kiss for a movie, and it was with a man. That’s the penalty I get for being with so many women during my life,” he told the publication.
“If you’re acting, you’re being someone you’re not. That’s the fun part. So when they asked me for that, I said, ‘Yes, I’m here for whatever you want.’ I think it was very cool; I didn’t feel uncomfortable. It’s part of acting. It’s part of what I’m doing.
While Cassandro is set to feature Bad Bunny’s first cinematic same-sex kiss, it isn’t the first time he’s locked lips with another man.

During the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, the Grammy winner made headlines when he passionately kissed a male and female dancer during his performance of Tití Me Preguntó.
In addition to his empowering same-sex kisses, Bad Bunny has also used his platform to champion the LGBTQ+ community and fight back against homophobia and transphobia.
In 2019, the star criticised singer Don Omar for a tweet many perceived to be homophobic, writing: “Homophobia in this day and age? How embarrassing, loco.”
The following year Bad Bunny brought attention to the death of Alexa – a trans woman who was murdered in Puerto Rico – during a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
While singing his emotive track Ignorantes, the 29-year-old talent wore a skirt and a sweater that read, “They killed Alexa, not a man with a skirt,” referencing the various news reports that misgendered the victim.
Lastly, Bad Bunny gave a refreshing perspective on his sexuality, telling the Los Angeles Times in 2020 that it “does not define” him.
“At the end of the day, I don’t know if in 20 years I will like a man,” he explained. “One never knows in life. But at the moment I am heterosexual and I like women.”
He also revealed why it’s important for him to include queer and disenfranchised people in his work, saying “there are people who listen to reggaeton and love it and at the same time they have never felt represented within it.”
