Where Miuccia Prada goes, we follow.

And that, in a nutshell, is why we’ll be investing in thigh-skimming shorts for spring/summer 19.

Last year’s SS19 shows may have featured the trending wide leg pant, leather shirt and shades of sage green to name a few, but nothing sent our little homo-hearts beating more than the short-shorts quite literally parading down the Prada runway. In everything from red silk, to retro printed or solid neoprene, it was the beacon we’ve been looking for and the mood we want to channel for the summer.

And it wasn’t just the Italian powerhouse that set the trend: With Louis Vuitton, Dries Van Noten and Hermes all sending down mid-to-upper thigh shorties, the runways were ablaze with pasty thighs and my god are we here for it.

There’s two ways to go when styling this no doubt risky trend – as we can see from the Prada runway we’re really teetering along those seasonal barriers (see: short paired with ski-hats and rain coats) when it comes to pairings, but if the shorts in March, or frostbitten legs trend as we like to call it, isn’t your vibe, then maybe try option two.

Try integrating the piece in to your existing rotation, while keeping an eye on proportion and fit. Sure you could just wear them with a plain tee but it’s not really a vibe that does the shorts themselves much justice, instead look to retro shirts, bold head-to-toe colour blocking or even a great blazer (look to Dior) to make them shine.

And don’t forget to moisturise those pins, end of PSA.
