Drag Race star Princess Poppy has opened up about her future as a drag entertainer.

If you’ve been keeping up with the 15th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, then you’ve heard of the San Francisco-based talent.

After sashaying away from the series during the third episode, Poppy took a step back from social media and the drag world as a whole.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the beloved drag performer gave further insight into her extended absence and what she reflected on during that time.

“I want to fall off the face of the planet. I don’t want to be famous, I want to fade into obscurity,” Poppy explained.

“That’s not a bad thing. I think people put so much emphasis on success and fame, and it’s okay to not want to be famous.

“It’s totally valid to not want to be known by a bunch of people. That’s just not what I want. I don’t want that for my life.”

While Poppy has no desire to be famous or run a large platform, she assured fans that she’s not quitting drag as a whole.

“Princess Poppy is always going to be there. I’m always going to do it, but it’s probably going to be a lot less frequent,” she revealed.

“Touring and doing drag all the time is really rough, it’s tough on your body, and if you’re not loving every minute, then it’s difficult.”

Lastly, Poppy revealed that she doesn’t regret stepping away from social media because she wouldn’t have been as “happy” if she didn’t.

“I went onto the show knowing that I’m not great with social media, and I don’t overly enjoy that aspect of the career of drag… it just became a lot, and I removed myself from it,” she said.

“I want to be left alone, I want to chill, I want to vibe. Drag, to me, as a career, wasn’t always a long-term thing.”

Poppy’s interview comes a few days before the grande finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15.

The sure-to-be iconic evening will see the final four – Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Luxx Noir London, Sasha Colby and Anetra – battle it out for the crown and title of America’s Next Drag Superstar.

New episodes of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15, along with Untucked, air weekly and exclusively on the streamer of all things drag, WOW Presents Plus, in the UK and internationally on Saturdays at 2:00am.
