Will Mia Kirschner return as the duplicitous Jenny in the upcoming reboot of The L Word?
No, sorry. She’s dead. However, the series’ original stars, Jennifer Beals (Bette), Katherine Moenig (Shane) and Leisha Hailey (Alice) will reprise their roles and will also executive produce.
Showtime’s revival of the iconic lesbian drama is titled ‘The L Word: Generation Q’ and will feature four newcomers: Arienne Mandi (Baja), Leo Sheng (Adam), Jacqueline Toboni (Easy) and Rosanny Zayas (Orange Is the New Black)
The premise reads: “The L Word: Generation Q continues to follow the intermingled lives of Bette Porter, Alice Pieszecki and Shane McCutcheon, along with new characters Dani Nùñez (Mandi), Micah Lee (Sheng), Sarah Finley (Toboni) and Sophie Suarez (Zayas) as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in L.A.
“Dani is a powerful and calculating PR executive whose ambition is only tested by her conscience. Micah is an earnest, soft-spoken adjunct professor who is forced to confront his fear of vulnerability.”
Last November, it was revealed that Marja-Lewis Ryan – writer and director of the Netflix original 6 Balloons – will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the show, which is being hailed as a “sequel” to the fan-favourite series.
The original series – which ran from 2004 until 2009 – also starred Laurel Holloman, Leisha Hailey, Katherine Moennig, Pam Grier, Sarah Shahi, Rachel Shelley and Daniela Sea.
We don’t know about you, but we’re very excited for its return because of that finale. The last ever episode of the series saw the demise of the evil lead character Jenny Schecter (Kirshner), and an investigation into her death.
Every single of her friends had motive to kill her, so the series was left open ended. Will we finally find out who murdered Jenny? Or will it forever remain a mystery?
The L Word: Generation Q will premiere later this year on Showtime.
