During America’s Got Talent this past week, the judges and audience got quite the suprise when Johnny Manuel decided to take on a beloved Whitney Houston track.
Anybody who knows the classic belter is aware that it’s a big, big song to sing vocally. However, when Johnny began his first few notes, the audience and judges were eating out of his hands.
Those vocal runs? And that end belt? Dead. The voice is incredible.
Getting a standing ovation and great praise from the judges, new host Tyra Banks even said to the camera that “Whitney hears you, honey.”
Johnny revealed at the start of his audition that he’d taken a dip into the waters of music at an earlier age but it sadly never worked out. Explaining that he’d been “singing most of my life.” With a performance like that, you can certainly tell!
Following the performance, Tyra posted the video to her personal Facebook page, writing: “Share this with your friends, because this guy just sang Whitney Houston like you’ve never heard before.”
