The first official stills from Red, White & Royal Blue are finally here!
Launching 11 August on Prime Video, the anticipated gay romance is based on Casey McQuiston’s iconic New York Bestseller of the same name and stars Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex Claremont-Diaz and Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Henry.
The novel follows the story of Alex, the son of America’s first female president (played by Kill Bill icon Uma Thurman), and his complicated relationship with his royal counterpart across the pond.
The synopsis for the film reads: “Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn’t really been an issue, until a disastrous—and very public—altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time.
“Going into damage-control mode, their families and handlers force the two rivals into a staged “truce.” But as Alex and Henry’s icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected.”
Red, White And Royal Blue’s cast also includes Clifton Collins Jr., Sarah Shahi, Rachel Hilson, Stephen Fry, Ellie Bamber, Thomas Flynn, Malcolm Atobrah, Akshay Khanna, Sharon D Clarke, Aneesh Sheth, and Juan Castano.
In May, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) revealed that the film will be Rated-R as a result of the “language, some sexual content, and partial nudity.”
The new stills show Zakhar Perez and Galitzine in various romantic situations – in a museum and on the floor covered in cake – with additional sneak-peaks at Thurman, Hilson, Shahi and Bamber’s characters.
